The wild, wild west comes alive on Upper Klamath river
rafting trips. It is Oregon rafting at its best! Overflowing with class III, IV
and IV+ rapids, Southern Oregon's Upper "K" holds one fun and challenging
stretch after another. Caldera, Hells Corner, Bushwacker, Ambush, and other
classic rapids each do what their names imply: pack a wet wallop. Add to this a
river canyon setting that brings to mind the west of yesterday and you are left
one of the best rafting adventures in the world.
Please note: the Upper
Klamath is not the same as the Lower Klamath, which is a less challenging three
and four day river journey. For more information on the
Lower Klamath trip

On our one day trips the river starts out relatively
calm, leaving time to warm up and practice paddling before entering the rapid
spangled gorge. Once in the gorge rapids appear one after the other, with
repeated horizon lines indicating steep drops and powerful waves ahead as
train-like rumblings beckon us into the tumbling fray. On two day trips we camp
in a pristine forest glade and run the same stretch again. With over 40 rapids
in a seventeen mile course our Upper K trips are absolutely chock full of
Oregon river rafting challenges.
Trip
Overview (for specific details including rendezvous info, gear list, etc.,
please click here) The Upper Klamath river
rafting adventure is not a trip for those seeking a mix of easier fun and
playful rapids. Rather, this Oregon river rafting trip is ideal for those
looking for very challenging and demanding rapids. Participants should be fit
and energetic, as strong paddling is required from start to finish. Farmer John
style wetsuits are required and provided free of charge. Although the river
water is warm and the summer air temperature typically in the 80's we require
wetsuits to protect against the abrasive volcanic rocks.
On all one-day rafting trips we stop around mid-day for
a gourmet deli-style style lunch, which includes sandwiches with all the
fixings, fruit, beverages, cookies and more. After the break we get back on the
river for more whitewater. We reach our take-out in the early afternoon., where
we serve snacks and beverages. On our two day trips we shuttle back up to a
camp near put in and enjoy quiet solitude and gourmet meals. The second day we
run the same stretch of river as we did on day one. Please note: shuttle
transportation for groups is available from Klamath Falls, Bend and the Ashland
areas.
Why Choose
Destination Wilderness For Your Upper K Trip? Destination
Wilderness offers the most complete Upper Klamath river rafting trips
available. Consider all that we provide on this great river:
At Least Two Boats and Two
Guides Per Trip. On all of our Oregon river rafting trips we always have at
least two licensed guides on the water. We believe that the safest possible
trip starts with appropriate staffing and that just one guide on the water is
not as effective as two or more. Therefore, we always have at least two boats
and two guides on each trip.
Full Safety Orientation and Gear. Before each Upper K trip we
provide a thorough safety and instructional presentation. As part of our full
safety gear ensemble, each guest is provided with a specially designed rafting
helmet, wetsuits, and when needed, paddle jackets.
Experienced Class IV and V River Guides. Each Upper Klamath
trip is led by guides with years of experience rafting challenging class IV and
V rivers in Oregon and beyond. This wealth of experience results in trips
operated by guides who know well the Upper Klamath and who have the skills
necessary to run the safest possible Oregon rafting trips.
