"The trip of a lifetime! It
was a great time to relax, time with our family and friends" --B. Curran,
Salmon River Rafting Trip, 1998 |
Salmon River Rafting Overview
Salmon River rafting trips have a sterling reputation.
Bill Cross, Destination Wilderness guide and co-author of Western
Whitewater: The Definitive River Running Guidebook states, "of all that
I've boated, this is the nicest, all around river I've ever been on."
Destination Wilderness as a booking agent proudly offers Salmon River
whitewater rafting journeys through Idaho outfitter River Time Guide Service.
River Time Guide Service is owned by Terry Hughes a former trip leader and
guide for Destination Wilderness and operated by Terry and his guides who for
years have led trips on the Salmon River.
Thrilling rapids like Salmon Falls, Big Mallard and
Bailey Falls get your adrenaline flowing; long, calm pools allow you to unwind.
The campsites provide perfect settings to sit back and relax in the peace of a
truly wild place. River Time Guide Service's variety of water craft allow for
complete whitewater experiences: paddle boats for those wanting to be part of a
team driving a raft through boiling waters, oar boats for those who prefer to
sit back and watch the beauty of wilderness, self-bailing kayaks for kids of
all ages and nimble one- and two-person person inflatable kayaks for
adventurers seeking the latest in rafting technology.
A whitewater rafting trip on the Main Salmon is a
journey perfect for everyone. River Time Guide Service offers 4 to 6 day Salmon
River rafting trips and they offer both camp and lodge
accomodations. They invite you, your family and friends to join them
for a legendary Main Salmon River rafting trip. As with all of their trips,
they can help you arrange for travel to the rendezvous point.

Why Choose River Time
Guide Service For Your Salmon River Rafting Trip?
- Your Choice:
It's Your Trip, Not Ours. River Time Guide Service has been running the
Salmon River for years and believe that the best trip is the trip you desire.
They provide a foundation of safety and seamless logistics and have a wealth of
knowledge about the Salmon River. From there they create the trip you want,
adjusting their style to your wants and needs rather than asking you to fit
into their agenda. They can accommodate almost any special request which often
includes providing for specific meal requests, stopping for extended side
canyon hikes, camping near good fishing holes, and so on.
A Variety of Trip Options: With River Time
Guide Service you can choose between different trip lengths and styles. Choose
from a 4, 5 or 6 day camping and rafting trip or take the luxuries of home with
you and choose a 5 day lodging / rafting trip.
To add even more variety to your Salmon River rafting
trip, they provide opportunities to experience all the different types of
inflatable crafts. Try out a paddle raft, experience the maneuverability of an
inflatable kayak and kick back and just enjoy the ride in an oar boat.
On a multi-day Salmon River rafting trip you'll have
the opportunity to try a little bit of everything. They are also happy to
customize a trip to meet your wants and needs.
- Your Safety:
At Least Two Boats and Two Guides Per Trip: On all
of their Salmon river rafting trips they always have at least two licensed
guides on the water. They believe that the safest possible trip starts with
appropriate staffing and that just one guide on the water is not as effective
as two or more. Therefore, they always have at least two boats and two guides
on each trip.
Full Safety Orientation and Gear: Before each Salmon river rafting trip
they provide a thorough safety and instructional presentation. For example, as
part of their full safety gear ensemble each client that paddles in the
inflatable kayaks are provided with helmets. They also provide wetsuits and
paddle jackets free of charge when needed.
Experienced Crew: Each and every year River Time
Guide Service is among the leaders in terms of the number of multi-day trip
guests who raft the Main Salmon. They run trips every week in the heart of the
summer. As such, they have a crew that knows well the characteristics of Salmon
River white water rafting trips.
- Your Comfort:
Smaller Group Size: Typically, their Salmon River
rafting trips are around 10-15 guests. They have the ability to take more at
select times during the season, but they generally prefer to keep group sizes
reasonable in order to maximize your wilderness experience.
Personable Guest to Guide Ratio: They run Salmon
River rafting trips with one guide for every three to four guests, a ratio that
they feel enhances each guest's experience in terms of safety, comfort, and
good company!
- Your Convenience:
Personal Camping Gear Included: All of their
Salmon River rafting trips include sleeping bags, tents, and sleeping pads. If
you prefer to not lug your stuff then let them make your preparation for the
trip easier!
