What outdoor adventure activities do you prefer? With Destination Wilderness, you have the option of travelling to a variety of incredible places AND the ability to choose between many different forms of outdoor adventure recreation activities. Please select from the list below those activities that will help quench your thirst for exploration and adventure in the outdoors!

   Whitewater Rafting       March to November
White water Rafting

Destination Wilderness offers several river rafting trips in the U.S. and abroad. Our trips range in length from two hour Portland Oregon rafting trips to our four day Rogue river rafting trips to 15 day Alaska river rafting tours. Most river trips with Destination Wilderness require no experience, but are also perfect for experienced rafters seeking immersion into remote wilderness areas accessible only by raft. Our rafting trips allow for varying degrees of physical effort, depending on whether you prefer to relax and watch the world go by in the comfort of an oar boat or paddle through the whitewater in a paddle raft or inflatable kayak.

   Sea Kayaking        Year Round
Sea Kayaking

Whether it is the wildlife-rich waters of Hawaii's Kona Coast, Destination Wilderness can provide you with an unforgettable sea kayaking journey. Our outdoor adventure trips are designed with both experienced and beginning kayakers in mind.

   Trekking        June to August
Trekking

The mountains of Norway, the volcanic wonderland of Hawaii, and the pastoral countryside of Iceland are all examples of the wilderness areas we visit on our trips that include trekking. Trekking trips can include other trip activities, such as rafting or wildlife viewing, allowing for a complete outdoor experience. Each of these outdoor adventure trips includes guides who are intimately familiar with the terrain and culture of the region.

   Inflatable Kayaking        March to November
Inflatable Kayaking

Many of our river trips also include inflatable kayaks. These nimble one- and two-person crafts allow the more intrepid to tackle the rapids on their own, with guides in rafts keeping eye from close by. All Klamath and Rogue river trips include inflatable kayaks, as do some two-day trips in Oregon.

   Multi-Activity Trips        Year Round
Multi-Sport Activities

Is your idea of an outdoor adventure dream getaway one that includes hiking, rafting, wildlife viewing, mountain biking, fly fishing, and...? Then consider a vacation with Destination Wilderness! From weekend trips based at our vacation home lodge in Oregon's Cascade mountains to a ten-day rafting and history trip in the heart of Alaska's backcountry, Destination Wilderness offers a wide variety of multi-activity trips. We have trips that are ideal for everyone: first-time adventurers, families, mature and independent vacationers, and true adrenaline junkies. Destination Wilderness' multi-activity trips give you the chance to relax, recharge, and reconnect!

  • Adventure River Center: A multi-sport adventure retreat in Oregon's Cascade Mountains, featuring a 1500 square foot vacation home near rivers, trails, and lakes. Rafting, kayaking, hiking, fly fishing, mountain biking, skiing, golf, and hot springs all in the immediate area.

   Glaciering        June to August
Glacering

Now you can walk on ice...and not thin ice! Our Alaska trips feature exploring the powerful and dynamic world of glaciers. On these trips, you are led up onto monolithic ice blocks with expert guides, dependent on crampons (steel spiked overshoes) to help you cling to the surface.

  • Grand Alaska Adventure: One day of glaciering combined with history, wildlife, and rafting
  • Discover Alaska: Glaciers, whales, and bears! Hiking, rafting, glacier tours, kayaking, boating and whale watching

   Wildlife Viewing        Year Round
Wildlife

All of our trips offer opportunities to view wildlife, from the Rogue river canyon to the Undiscovered Hawaii trips.

   Specialty Trips        Year Round
Specialty Trips

All of our trips offer opportunities to view wildlife. From the Rogue river canyon to the mountains of Norway, every Destination Wilderness trip takes place settings that promote natural habitat preservation. If you are looking for whales, consider our Isle of the Midnight Sun or Undiscovered Hawaii trips. If bears pique your interest, the Wrangell-St. Elias journeys are best. Rivers such as the Rogue host a variety of wildlife, such as deer and Bighorn sheep.

   Custom Charter Trips        Year Round
