- Getting to the McKenzie River Area

PLEASE CALL FOR SPECIFIC RENDEVOUS INSTRUCTIONS

From I-5
: Head east on Highway 126. If you're north of Eugene take the 105/126 exit in Springfield. As you drive along Highway 126 you'll pass through the towns of Walterville, Leeburg and Vida. The Adventure River Center is located approximately 10 miles east of Vida, OR.

Traveling East from Bend & Sisters, OR: Travel north on Highway 20 to the Highway 126 intersection. After going over Santiam Pass, continue following Hwy 126 south. You'll pass Sahalie Falls and Olallie Campground before reaching the Highway 242 junction. Paradise Campground is approximately three miles east of town. The Advenure River Center is located 15 miles west of the McKenzie Bridge.

- What to Bring and Wear

Shorts, T-shirts and sport sandals or tennis shoes are usually suitable for summer McKenzie whitewater rafting trips. The water is cold and days can be cool at times, especially if the wind comes up. That's why we reccommend bringing a few extra items to keep you as comfortable as possibel. All of the clothing you bring will get wet so please don't bring cotton. Also be sure to bring an extra "dry" set of clothes for after the trip.


Wet Set for Half, Full and 2-Day Trips

  • Quick dry shorts or swim suit.
  • 1 T-shirt (preferably long sleeved for added sun protection).
  • 1pair of synthetic or wool socks (spring trips).
  • 1 fleece or other synthetic jacket.
  • 1 wind breaker or rain jacket.
  • Sunglasses with strap.
  • 1 brimmed hat for sun protection.
  • Wetsuit (spring trips - provided by Destination Wilderness).

Additional Items for All Trips

  • Sunblock or sun screen.
  • Water proof camera.

Dry Set for 2-Day Trips

  • 1 pair long pants.
  • 1 pair shorts.
  • 1 T-shirt.
  • 1 synthetic or wool sweater.
  • 1 pair comfortable shoes.
  • Underware and socks.
  • 1 rain or waterproof jacket & pants.
  • Flashlight or headlamp with batteries.
  • Insect repellant.
  • Large ziplock bags for organizing gear.
  • 1 small towel & toiletry kit.

Rafting the McKenzie River.- What We Provide

Professional River Guides: Professional, skilled, experienced and licensed river guides (and yes, they are really friendly, too!).

Top Notch Equipment: The best river gear available, including self-bailing rafts, safety equipment and Coast Guard approved life jackets. We also bring along inflatable kayaks on two day trips! All personal and camping gear is carried down river with us on oar-powered gear boats.

Gourmet Meals: All meals are provided on our Rogue River whitewater trips including freshly prepared breakfasts, deli-style lunchs and gourmet dinner meals. All meal are prepared with only the freshest ingredients.

Shuttles: We provide shuttles between the rendezvous and river at the beginning and end of your McKenzie River Trip.

Personal Camping Equipment: On 2-Day McKenzie River rafting trips sleeping bags, sleeping pads, tents and camp chairs are provided by Destination Wilderness.
